“If You Like It Then You Should Have Put a Ring On It”

Not long after starting my own mini-business I signed up to be a vendor for OhNut because it is a product I love, frequently recommend and wanted to have on hand for my clients. My husband’s take on it was that I spent $400 on “cock rings.” I felt like Lucy Ricardo with some ‘splainin to do. It’s now become a household joke.

I figure, if my husband, who is married crazy old to me, needs some education on what a c-ring is (my preferred nickname for these devices), then maybe others do too.

I feel like the term “cock ring” brings up a lot of “stuff” for people. People frequently tell me it makes them think of nipple clamps, whips, chains and butt plugs! Women are worried their partners won’t want to use it or will be offended by the suggestion. Men are confused about the purpose. I’m here to try to change that because a good c-ring can be a best friend in the bedroom, whether there are issues or not!

I tried to streamline so you could read the sections that applied to your specific situation. I added a little of my own humor. I’m not to make light of any sexual issues one might be having. Humor, self awareness and emotional flexibility in the bedroom (or on the kitchen table, or whatever) all great forms of treatment as well.

**Reasons to Put a Ring On “It” **

*Square Peg in a Round Hole

A c-ring can be super helpful if slot A is not fitting into slot B. This includes folks who are having pain or issues with penetration. This may be due to a longer penetrating partner (or toy) or a partner with a shorter vaginal canal or both!

Genitals come in all different shapes/sizes and sometimes the proportions just don’t work well enough to make the situation comfortable for one or both partners. Sometimes a surgery can affect the length of the vaginal canal and partners who previously fit together well may notice a new issue. (This happens most frequently with post-hysterectomy patients).

In this case, I recommend the OhNut. It is an adjustable buffer system that goes around the base of the penis and allows for control of depth of penetration. It has 4 base rings with the option for 2 additional add on rings if needed. This can turn something that is too long or too short into “just right.”

*Cock Blocked

Are you or your partner struggling with erectile dysfunction or premature ejactulation issues that are causing issues for your sex life? A proper c-ring can be helpful for this as well. Why? Because an erection is all about relaxation, stimulation and blood flow at the right times.

There are a couple of options in this department depending on the goal. A proper fitting, plain old c-ring can help to keep the blood flow in once an erection is reached. A vibrating c-ring can help get an erection started and keep it going with both the stimulation and by keeping the blood in the erect penis. If premature ejaculation is an issue, some pressure to the base of the penis can help to slow things down, so a tighter fitting ring could be used to make the fun last!

*Cushion for the Pushin’

A c-ring can be super helpful if a partner has vulvar (for females) or pelvic pain (females or males). Not to be crude, but think of this as a cushion for the pushing. Sex can be a lot of pressure, friction and banging at the site of penetration. If the areas around the genitals that receive the brunt of that force are already sore or painful, things are not likely to go well.

In this case, again I recommend 1 or 2 rings of the OhNut to help give some shock absorption. This can decrease the “skin to skin” contact in that area, making the act of intercourse more comfortable for a partner experiencing discomfort.

*Only Good Vibes

Did you know some partners don’t easily experience orgasm during intercourse? 75% of women and 10% of men do not orgasm with sex alone!!!!! Sometimes couples want to bring in a little fun or “kink” to their bedroom to change things up. Whichever category you may fall into, adding some vibration to sex can take things up a notch.

There are a variety of c-rings available that have different vibration levels/ settings, clitoral stimulation components, and orientations for on the base of the penis. These can help make things more magical for both partners with a little experimentation and play!

I hope this makes c-rings a little less scary! They can be a great tool in your toolbox of bedroom tricks! Some common sense reminders – always lubricate them properly and as advised by the manufacturer, make sure BOTH partners are on board and make sure to clean them properly when done!
