Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Mora Pluchino is a licensed physical therapist who has gone through specialized training to be able to evaluate, assess and treat the pelvic floor and associated problems. The pelvic floor is the muscular base of the abdominal canister attached to the pelvis. It is composed of muscles, ligaments and fascia that gives support to the abdominal organs. Pelvic Floor Therapy addresses issues that may occur in the back, abdomen, or pelvis.

PPPT provides flexible scheduling, kid friendly treatment spaces for little stowaways, resources to supplement sessions and a convenient, accessible location. PPPT offers weekly evening hours and monthly Saturday visits.

Virtual visits are also available for clients who cannot physically come in and can be attended via smartphone, tablet or laptop.

During your first visit, your therapist will check you in and complete intake paperwork. They will spend time getting to know your medical history and what brings you in for therapy. Your therapist will then spend time reviewing what they would like to assess and why. On the first visit, your therapist will likely want to assess your back, belly and possibly pelvic floor area. Everything will be performed with an explanation of the purpose for each task and your informed consent. The client is always in charge and the therapist will always do everything possible to make sure the client is comfortable during every part of the assessment. If a pelvic examination is performed, know we do not use a speculum or stirrups!

If you are not 100% sure that Practically Perfect Physical Therapy is the right practitioner for you, sometimes it is helpful to have a short phone conversation to discuss if it is the right fit. Dr. Pluchino offers 15 minute complimentary conversations to hear a short summary of your symptoms and help determine if physical therapy will be able to help.

Pediatric Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy starts with a fact finding mission to discover what is going on with your tiny human. Your therapist will discuss your child’s medical history as well as dive into their developmental history including feeding, toileting, physical issues and behavior. Assessment for pediatric cases involves observation and assessment of the belly, back and pelvic floor (with consent from the parents). There is never any internal work involved. Your therapist will educate and inform the child and parents at every step of the examination and evaluation.

Once the therapist fully evaluates your child, treatment can begin in various forms. Treatment may include habit/routine changes, stretches, exercises, breathing, and other pelvic health education to incorporate into your child’s activities of daily living.

Practically Perfect Physical Therapy wants your baby to achieve all of their gross motor milestones on time and with the best strength, posture and coordination possible. We use purposeful play in various developmental positions to optimize your child’s movement and function.
